Architecture Without Borders: Golden Trezzini Statuette Delivered to the United States

The winner of the 2024 International Golden Trezzini Awards for Architecture and Design in the category Best Project of Private Residence — architect Dálber Agüero (Dálber Aguero Architects) — has finally received his award in the United States.

The jury-recognised project White House is located in Santo Domingo, the capital of the Dominican Republic. The residence is designed in a minimalist style with pure and striking shapes: straight lines contrast with rounded details, while the upper floor — an 8-metre suspended box — is offset from the ground floor, creating a disruptive volume.

The architect paid particular attention to adapting the design to the local climate. The white colour of the facades, evoking natural limestone, reflects sunlight and helps maintain a comfortable microclimate in the heat of Santo Domingo. The delivery of the statuette took more than a year. The reasons were not only the complexities of international logistics, but also political circumstances: in the current situation, sending an award from Russia to the United States proved a task that required diplomatic involvement. All the more meaningful, then, that it reached its recipient at last.

Upon receiving the statuette, Dálber Agüero recorded a video message in which he thanked the award and his team:
