About the Award The Golden Trezzini Awards are presented for outstanding contributions to architecture as an art form.. It was established in 2018 and named after Domenico Trezzini (1670–1734), the first architect of St Petersburg and author of iconic Petrine Baroque buildings. The award's motto is "Architecture as Art”. The key goal is to select the most artistically valuable projects in the fields of architecture, design, restoration, outdoor public art, and set design for their subsequent inclusion in a museum collection. The Golden Trezzini are the only awards in the world whose laureate projects enter the state museum collection, contributing to the preservation and popularization of the best examples of contemporary architecture. The award develops "architectural diplomacy" as a form of public diplomacy, creating a platform for professional dialogue between architects and representatives of the museum community from different countries, regardless of the political situation. The awards organizer is the Worldwide St Petersburg Club. The Honorary Chairman of the Golden Trezzini International Council is Mikhail Piotrovsky, President of the Worldwide St Petersburg Club and General Director of the State Hermitage Museum. The council and jury include leading architects, art historians, public figures, and diplomats from Russia and other countries. The award is supported by the State Hermitage Museum, the State Russian Museum, the Museum of St Petersburg History, committees of the St Petersburg and Leningrad Region governments, as well as a number of governmental and diplomatic structures in Russia and abroad. Over the years of its existence, more than 6,500 projects from 114 countries worldwide have been submitted to the award.
