Renowned Architect and Professor Jenchieh Hung Appointed to Jury for Golden Trezzini Award

Jenchieh Hung, a distinguished architect and professor, has earned an exceptional reputation in the world of architecture for his innovative designs and significant academic contributions. With a career spanning decades, he has shaped both the built environment and the minds of future generations of architects.

Recently, his expertise and influence were recognized on the international stage with his appointment as a member of the International Council and Jury for the prestigious Golden Trezzini Awards in the International Experts Section. As the co-founder and principal architect of the Thai firm Jenchieh Hung + Kulthida Songkittipakdee / HAS Design and Research, well known by the abbreviation HAS Design and Research, based in Bangkok, Jenchieh Hung has built a distinguished career rooted in sustainability, innovation, and cultural relevance. He is an architect member of The Association of Siamese Architects under Royal Patronage (ASA). In 2023, he was appointed exhibition chairman and principal curator and curated a series of important international exhibitions, such as the Infinity Ground Architecture Exhibition at the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre (BACC), Thailand’s most renowned museum, as well as Collective Language: Asian Contemporary Architecture Exhibition at the Thailand IMPACT Arena Exhibition Center, the world’s first major Asian architects’ exhibition in cooperation with the Architects Regional Council Asia (ARCASIA). Alongside his professional practice, he was appointed as a juror for the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) – RIBA International Awards: Asia Pacific Awards. He is also a lifetime honorary professor at Kunming University of Science and Technology, as well as guest editor of the Journal of the Architects Regional Council Asia (ARCASIA Journal), contributing his critiques and perspectives to highlight the emergence of Thai contemporary architecture on the global stage.

Professor and architect Jenchieh Hung has emerged as one of the most critical and forward-thinking contributors to contemporary architecture in Thailand, Southeast Asia, and Asia. He has recently gained international recognition for a series of outstanding projects in both Thailand and abroad, including the Museum of Modern Aluminum Thailand, Simple Art Museum, High Line Bangkok, Aluminum Grotto and Public Ground, The Glade Bookstore, Forest Villa, and Casa de Zanotta. Jenchieh Hung and his firm are the first Thai architect and Thai architectural firm to be listed in the Wallpaper Architects’ Directory* from the United Kingdom, as well as the Louis Vuitton City Guide Bangkok from France. The firm has also received several international awards, including recognition in the United States, France, the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, Russia, China, Thailand, and Singapore. Jenchieh Hung currently serves as a visiting professor at Chulalongkorn University, an adjunct/visiting professor at King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi, a visiting professor at Tongji University, and an adjunct professor at the World University of Design, as well as a distinguished professor at Huaqiao University. His design studio, Hung And Songkittipakdee Laboratory (HAS Lab), explores the use of pattern formation as a strategy to simulate urban spatial systems. Jenchieh began his career at the Japanese firm Kengo Kuma and Associates in 2014 and became a design manager and project in-charge by 2018, and he was responsible for projects including the Yangcheng Lake Tourist Transportation Center in Suzhou and Shipyard 1862 in Shanghai.

Applications for the 9th International Golden Trezzini Awards for Architecture and Design are being accepted until September 15. There are no geographic restrictions on project submissions, and participation is free of charge. The winners will be announced on November 21, 2025, at the State Hermitage Museum in St Petersburg.

Golden Trezzini is the only award in the world where winning projects enter a state museum collection.
