Jenchieh Hung is a distinguished architect, artist, and educator, celebrated as one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary architecture in Thailand and across Asia. His work is renowned for creating spatial experiences that weave together history, culture, and emotion. A versatile architect in the field, he served as a juror for the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) – RIBA International Awards: Asia Pacific Awards in 2025. That same year, he received the highest honor from Kunming University of Science and Technology as a lifetime honorary professor and was also recognized with the Global Sustainable Development Design Achievement Award for his exceptional contributions to architecture and academia. Professor and architect Jenchieh Hung founded the internationally award-winning studio, Jenchieh Hung + Kulthida Songkittipakdee / HAS Design and Research, a Bangkok-based firm that emphasizes architecture grounded in local identity, material innovation, and ecological responsibility rather than following transient aesthetic trends. The firm has become a significant and forward-thinking contributor to contemporary architecture in Thailand and Southeast Asia. His recent projects, which have attracted international attention, include the Museum of Modern Aluminum Thailand, Simple Art Museum, Aluminum Grotto and Public Ground, Forest Villa, The Glade Bookstore, and Casa de Zanotta.

In 2023, Jenchieh Hung was appointed exhibition chairman and principal curator by The Association of Siamese Architects under Royal Patronage (ASA). He curated major exhibitions such as Infinity Ground Architecture Exhibition at the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre (BACC), Thailand’s leading museum, and Collective Language: Asian Contemporary Architecture Exhibition at the Thailand IMPACT Arena Exhibition Center, which marked the first major pan-Asian architects’ exhibition in collaboration with the Architects Regional Council Asia (ARCASIA).

Alongside his professional practice, he holds teaching positions as a visiting professor at Chulalongkorn University, adjunct/visiting professor at King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi in Thailand, visiting professor at Tongji University, and distinguished professor at Huaqiao University. His design studio, Hung And Songkittipakdee Laboratory (HAS Lab), conducts research that explores pattern formation as a method to model and simulate urban spatial systems. He also serves as a guest editor for the Journal of the Architects Regional Council Asia (ARCASIA Journal), providing critical insights that highlight the growing influence of Thai contemporary architecture on the global stage.
